The 2009 FotoWeek DC calendar is already filling up with exciting exhibitions, stimulating lectures series, and portfolio reviews by renowned judges. Some of the most anticipated highlights are:
- An important discussion on copyright law and posting pictures, sponsored by the American Society of Picture Professionals (ASPP). Legal experts join with some noted photographers to explain the cases that have brought this issue to light and, more importantly, how to protect yourself in ‘Copyright Law, How to Prevent Image Theft.’
- An presentation hosted by the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) on its new program, Digital Photography Best Practices and Workflow, followed by a reception to celebrate the program’s launch.
- Christopher Anderson from Magnum will discuss his new book Capitolio, about Caracas, Venezuela, and other topics at the American University School of Communications.
- A book exhibit and talk at Photo Works in Glen Echo, as well as a seminar led by Mary Virginia Swanson, an expert in marketing fine art photography.
- Lectures by Dan Burkholder and Bruce Barnbaum at the Photography Center at Vis Arts in Rockville.
