If you have heard of the annual pony round up in Assateague, then you are familiar with Chincoteague for they are side by side. This is an island on the Eastern Shore, home to the Chincoteague ponies. Seldom do we visit when we do not get to photograph these wonderful creatures. You will find a nice variety of subjects: lighthouse, Sika Elk, fishing vessels, buoys, fishermen, reflections, birds, ponies, white tailed deer, scenics, sunrises and sunsets, sea foam rainbows and thousands and thousands of Snow Geese as they glide into the refuge and then scatter again into the blue beyond.

Seeing an orange, deep blue and yellow sky reflecting in the water behind silhouetted white tail deer and sika elk, or egrets as they are silhouetted and tinted blue by the sky while the water around turns pink, or seeing and hearing the lifting of thousands of Snow Geese as their wings beat in rhythmic unison are experiences you’ll not soon forget. In the early a.m. and late evening the geese are lit by a pink/yellow glow. There are certain experiences that never grow old. This is definitely not just a birding expedition; but there are many species of bird that will make themselves readily accessible to you and your camera very close to the side of the road. This is the migrating season for waterfowl.

We’ll meet on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the conference room of the motel and end around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Our Motel is conveniently located. Breakfasts and Lunches are included in the price. (Dinners not included). Cost $750.00. A block of rooms has been reserved for your convenience. It is suggested that you make your room reservation as soon as possible.
